Meuroer See I is from the Chain Lakes series, which is a series of photographs from open-pit lignite coal mines in the Lusatia Lake
District (Lausitzer Seenland) to the south of Berlin, Germany. The mines in the Lusatian region are part of the largest landscape reconstruction project in Europe, transforming the open pits into a chain of artificial lakes connected by canals and filled with water from the Spree and Lusatian Neisse Rivers.
